Plymouth College of Art
April is a freelance illustrator based in Plymouth. She works to create illustrations that are visually appealing and accessible to everyone. Recently she has further explored how visualisation affects the way we learn and is currently moving towards working with special educational needs children, providing emotional support through art. April's work consists mostly of hand created collage pieces that use textures and an array of bright colours. April takes inspiration from the world around her, often creating work based on still life and from observation. April has a keen interest in children's illustration and creating work that is educational, but additionally her decorative style and way of working lends well to areas such as editorial and packaging design.
April has worked on a range of personal and university based projects including packaging and magazine design. She has worked in the past two years with Babcock international, creating a book to encourage children into STEM based subjects and has more recently worked with an independent author to illustrate a book teaching children about Covid-19 and social distancing. In the past year, April has worked on creating her own childrens sticker book geared towards increasing visual learning within schools and is currently working on a children's magazine that focuses on accessible design and making learning fun.
