BA (Hons) Interior Decoration, Design & Styling
Hello! My name is Clare and I am a graduate from BA ( Hons) Interior Decoration, Design and Styling at Plymouth College of Art. I am a creative and driven Interior Designer and Stylist who is passionate about bringing a design brief to life using my unique artistic flair and understanding the client's vision. My desire to become an Interior Designer stemmed from my passion for interiors and wanting to address the challenges that face our society. I believe that issues such as increasing population, personal self expression, demand on living and commercial space, increase in consumerism, the importance of recycling, climate and environmental changes will vastly shape the future of interior design. Finding elegant solutions to these problems with art and design is one of the most exhilarating and important things I can imagine. I have worked on briefs from concept through to completion, and have developed an original, design led style, with a particular interest in colour, pattern, texture and the natural environment to benefit the clients mental and physical wellbeing.
I have completed a wide range of projects for my degree utilising software skills such as InDesign, Photoshop and AutoCad to create moodboards, elevation drawings and 3D visuals to communicate the scheme. My projects include commercial and residential design, textile design, Theatre set design and magazine styling editorial. My most recent project, Yoga Ojas: Wellness at Home, was hospitality design for a live client who has relocated to the UK after working abroad for the last several years. The scheme involved creating a functional yoga and mindfulness space on the ground floor of my client’s Victorian house. Biophilic design was used to enhance the physical and mental well-being of individuals who visit the studio. I also have transferable skills that would be an asset to potential employers with many years managerial and customer service experience both in retail and public libraries.
