Biography
My name is Daisy Sparling. I am from Essex. I am based around London and have many developed competencies such as CAD (Rhino7) designing for visualisation and flat-bed CNC, wood finishing, woodworking, steam bending, glass casting, pottery throwing, slip casting and metalwork. I work as a CAD technician for Simpsons London and enjoy all things making.

CAD Technician, Simpsons London; Brentwood, Essex — July-Present
Responsible for developing September 2021 range with company director. Met with clients to talk through bespoke orders. CAD drawing, for visualisation and technical drawings on short notice. Practical aspects in making mirror frames and finishing metal components with patinas. Occasional travel to London showroom and clients properties.
Intern, Alexander White Workshop; Argall Avenue, London — January-May 2021
Using my initiative I organised a placement. Shadowing Alex's work activity. Making of ply components, assembly and finishing of tables for ‘the art of ping pong’. Created cutting lists with costing. Developed and used Rhino7 skills. Designed a piece of furniture which was cut by subcontracted CNC, then constructed by me.
Intern, Danny Lane, Hythe Road, London — March-July 2019
Only intern to date. Taught glass casting, kiln loading and de-moulding of glass sculpture by Professor and author Angela Thwaites. Hand sketching for new glass sculptures. Mould-making using clay and lost wax methods. Admin and organisation of documenting Danny’s previous work. Socialising with clients and gallery representatives on behalf of Danny at exhibitions such as Masterpiece in London.
