I’m a Designer Maker who works with a range of mediums and try to vary my material use through experimentation. I often create sculptural pieces with clay, as I love the versatility of this material. I’ve recently explored textiles within my studies and currently researching into how I can combine textiles and ceramics together in my Mini Major Project. I love working with wood and testing my abilities within this materials area, however, I haven't developed my skills much further in the last year and plan to adapt these in my Masters. I am a Designer Maker who tries to solve problems but keeping the solution objects aesthetically pleasing. I’m conscious about the materials used and the impact caused on our environment as well as thinking about the future and how design can influence it. Over my years of studying art and design, I feel at best in my element in ceramics, producing bespoke objects and pushing clay to its limits. Working with wood has always been an exciting journey for me especially as I continue to advance this skill.
I've had the pleasure of working with the RNLI in one of my third year projects. This included me creating a life jacket which was aimed at women with a large bust. Having a real client to work with was a great experience which meant I could get constant feedback throughout the project. Leading shortly after this, I continued the RNLI project with Helly Hansen to produce a fully working prototype. Working with a well known company made me understand how crucial communications is as well as the importance to ask questions if unknown.
