BA (Hons) Fashion Media and Marketing
I am a Fashion Media and Marketing graduate from Plymouth College of Art who specialises in digital content marketing and content creation. Despite choosing that specialty, my degree has allowed me to develop a variety of skills such as marketing, branding and fashion videography to broaden my adaptability within the industry. The content creation industry is one that I have been fascinated with since starting a personal blog in 2016. As a blogger and content creator, I am experienced in the way that social media works. Not just in a way to keep in touch with family or the latest news; but to use it as a business tool to drive a company to meet their goals. Coupling my personal experience with what I have learned on my university course, I have been able to implement and strengthen my skills in industry in order to generate a new level of knowledge to help work in a variety of sectors such as the content industry.
Through my content creation work, I gained inspiration to launch a digital creative content agency. The launch of my content agency as a part of my final major project was spurred on by the online transition caused by the pandemic. It was vital for all businesses to build an online presence in order to maintain customer relationships and most importantly, survive. After analysing a gap in the market, I wanted to create a content agency supplying brands with the services that they might need to aid this transition such as content creation, social media management or branding at an affordable price point. In addition to this, I noticed a lack of diversity and transparency from other agencies in the market. With the increasing need to hold responsibility as a brand, agency or company there is an analogy within my business - it will aim to be representative of all and encourages clients to follow the same values. But also it includes the diversity of content produced - the agency will strive to be innovative and produce briefs that are unique and compelling in order to attract a client’s target audience. I take pride in creating high-quality content whilst broadening skills useful to the industry. The launching of the agency acts as a summary of my skills I have developed across the course of the last three years. My focus on content creation has evolved from a series of experiments of photography mediums. From polaroid to film, I evaluated the use of each form in connection to audience emotions and how they would be portrayed by my target audience, and the audience of brands. Similarly, my capabilities in graphic design have been a result of combining modules completed in my second year of university. Within this I had the opportunity to intern for a sports team to manage their social media and produce aspirational graphics to convey updates for the team, and communicate the players wishes. However as a content creator I have learnt the in-depth process it entails. Not just the photography but also the location scouting, model choice, styling and editing treatments. The combination of elements pushes my skills and forces me to adapt and think carefully about each individual project I encounter.
