Faye Alexandra Morgan
University of Plymouth
Hello! My name is Faye Morgan, a designer maker that specialises in ceramics, as well as using up cycled plastics. I grew up abroad, in the Middle East, enabling me to apply what I have learnt through Arab design to my own practice, as well as translating it into my own mash-up culture of British and Middle Eastern design. I have many skills within ceramics, from throwing and hand building, to glaze making and application (dipping and spray), and also mould making and slip casting. I also have skills in prototyping with plastics and cardboard, as well as wood working. I apply these skills to my design process, always challenging myself to try something new.
I initially studied Design Technology at IGCSE level, and from this decided to take a more art and design route when I studied 3D Art and Design at A-Level. From this I decided to continue my education in design at the University of Plymouth, where I decided to specialise as a Designer Maker. I have worked with festivals such as Illuminate, as well as with the RNLI charity. I also took part in a 48 hour design challenge for an installation at Dartmoor Zoo.
