Plymouth College of Art
I am American, born and raised. I moved here a few years ago with my family and fell back in love with art. In the States, it was just a hobby. Here, it is a career. Illustration to me is something that I am very fortunate to be a part of. I am interested in illustrative packaging – most often on liquor or beer bottles. I have started experimenting with designing my own packaging and in future, I hope to find a career that allows me to really excel in this field. I am a digital based creator but like drawing on paper beforehand and then transferring it to screen. This allows me to harness both tradition and digital processes within my practice.
I am very proud of my work in last year's Professional Practice Module. Specifically, the work I made for a Hallmark greeting card submission as it was my first time creating imagery in that format. Another live brief I took part in was for Penguin It was my second time creating a book cover but it was a great improvement from the first. In a way, both projects helped pave the way to my interest in packaging design. I have learned a lot. More than I thought I would. Whether that be in the use of design software or just the illustration industry as a whole. I have earned new techniques from both my peers and my tutors. I learned how to be critical of my work and how to give critical feedback to others. I found that my time at university has really helped me develop my working practice as well as myself. I feel comfortable with my skills and hope to use them within my career.
