Plymouth College of Art
PARAGRAPHMy name is Jack and I am a 22 year old Filmmaker and Musician specialising in Directing, Sound Design and Composing. I have a great passion for film, starting off as a love for watching film and everything film related I decided to attend Plymouth College of Art's pre-degree foundation diploma course studying Creative Media Production. It was there that I realised I had a love for Directing, using my creative knowledge of moving image and artistic passion for filmmaking, working with others to create works of my own creative style. As well as Directing I realised that my love and knowledge of music also had its place in film. I started working on Sound Design in productions, recording audio on set or working in the studio, using my knowledge of recording instruments to work on foley and redubbing dialogue. As well as this I would start to score piece for my own films. My love of film and my passion for music working alongside with my knowledge of elements such as musical instruments and music technology has really played a key part in giving me my artistic identity in the world of film.
EXPERIENCEI have made films for a with a wide variety of people and collaborators, from working with archival footage provided by The Box Plymouth, to shooting the Civic Centre Skate Jam with the companies Marked Skateboards and OG Ramps, filming the friendly and united subculture of skateboarding in the Plymouth area. Along with I have Written/Directed productions with the whole of my Film course, organising and creatively running the whole set to the best of my ability. I also combine my love of film with another big passion of mine, and that's Music. Using my knowledge and passion for Music in the world of Film, working and specialising in roles such as Sound Design and Soundtrack Composing. I have been a Musician since the age of 8, playing Drums to a grade 8 level, Piano and Synthesiser with a big knowledge of anything synth music based. I spent a year gigging and touring before attending Plymouth College of Art as a drummer, playing festivals and events such as Boardmasters, Port Eliot and BBC Introducing, also being featured on BBC Radio. I now write my own music under the name Lectroplume while also writing soundtracks for my own and other people's film, combining my love of film and music by revealing to the viewer that audio plays a very big role in moving image.
