Biography
Hello!
My name is James, and I’m about to start my way in the professional world of product design. I think Lego is pretty awesome. It started the creative journey that led to me becoming the innovative thinker I am today that allows me to practice my creative skills. I am hugely aspiring towards the design industry, and I can’t wait to get my hands on some new projects!
Industry Experience
I have recently graduated with a First Class Honours from the University of Plymouth, where I studied BA (Hons) 3D Design. Throughout my degree, I was extremely fortunate to work with a series of external clients. I relish the opportunity to work with industry level organisations. I feel naturally comfortable in these situations, and feel highly motivated to work with others. One of the most exciting projects I have carried was when I was given the opportunity to work with the British Red Cross and their refugee department when I designed and produced the Abacus Scales. The highlight of this project was being able to communicate and work with refugees, rather than relying on secondary research. In addition to the Red Cross, I have also been able to work with Herman Miller, Block Design, and on a number of commission based projects in the South West.
During the summer of 2019, I was offered an internship in Hungary. I worked as a Draftsman in a film studios located in Budapest, where I worked in the Set Decoration department for a high budget television program, set to be realised on Showtime, an American network, in 2021. During this experience, I worked on an international design team, where I was responsible for designing a number of props and set decoration pieces.
