BA (Hons) Printed Textile Design and Surface Pattern
Katherine Toms is a surface pattern and printed textile designer who focuses primarily on colour, experimentation and the environment. A wide range of digital and traditional mediums forms her work to create both abstract and detailed designs for both fashion and interiors. Katherine's current collection 'Lost in Yesterday' brings attention to endangered species from land, sea and sky who without change and activism will be lost in yesterday, with the print collection intended for sustainable, luxury fashion. Her designs are composed of bold colours with a contrast of Matisse inspired cut-outs being placed with detailed pencil drawings, creating depth and texture to her prints. By combining different styles and mediums, Katherine capture's people's attention and interest to the purpose of the design collection, through the beauty of the prints themselves.
