The exploration into social acceptance of feminine hygiene and the exclusion of transgender and non-binary people within this highly sensitive topic. Discussions with transgender men and women allowed me to gain an overall perspective of the issue at hand; these conversations really benefit my personal growth and understanding of what it is like being a transgender or non-binary within a heavily subjective society. The branding allowed the product to be expressed in a new light with less feminine colours and expressions of gender. In terms of sustainability with 4.3 billion items are used per year in the UK, the amount of single use plastic waste adds up. So, removing the single use plastics from the secondary packaging of menstrual products and replacing it with a biodegradable food safe film. This film can be composted at home and still offers the protection around each pad upholding this envision of “sanitary” products.
