Lidia Diaz Cano
Plymouth College of Art
My name is Lidia Diaz Cano, I am 23 years old and from Canary Islands. For the last 3 years I have dedicated and committed my time on studying a fashion degree at Plymouth College of Art to pursue the path on becoming a sustainable & conscious fashion designer.
During my studies I have explored and research many concepts such as Juxtaposition, The MeToo Movement, Biomimetics, Sportswear & my personal favourite, Heritage & Culture. All projects which I have undertaken have given me technical knowledge as well as understand each concept thoroughly. My time at PCA has refined my values and ethos as a fashion student and designer. In my final year I asked myself an important after I had heard that Brexit was announced to be taken forward, which waste inquiry my sense of belonging after living in the UK for 15 years. And I asked myself this: "Where do I come from and where are my going?" And this lead me to research my Spanish heritage and investigate sustainability. I combined the two to create my final mayor project which has enhanced my vision and mission beyond education, which will be to investigate new sustainable innovations to produce garments that are good for the wellbeing and for the wellbeing of Planet Earth.
