Interior Decoration, Design and Styling
I am a hard working individual dedicating my time to completing projects to the best of my ability. I gain great pleasure experimenting with colour and specifying finishes, but also enjoy the technical side of design. AutoCAD allows me to create ideas reflecting on how people use and interact with a space. Producing designs for pubs within Cornwall was rewarding to see my ideas come to fruition. From this experience I discovered my huge interest in the hospitality sector. I enjoy travelling frequently and have gained inspiration from each place I visit, which has assisted greatly with each module during my studies.
Whilst refurbishment works were being completed in a bar area in a small hotel in Wadebridge I was approached to produce designs. Being limited to choices of colour due to them retaining the original carpet, I was given the challenging task of choosing materials to suit and match this. My designs were presented, complimented and accepted by the local brewery and it was most rewarding to see the final result of them. Being so impressed with my designs, the brewery requested at a later date, for me to design another public house in Launceston. This was a much more involved task as it wasn’t just producing ideas for colour schemes and furnishings, but also to give new designs for seating and bar areas. Once again, the designs were presented, accepted and put into fruition. The outcome was most successful and I was then requested to help choose fabrics for seating and blinds in a small public house in Polruan. These roles have given me experience that I will treasure in my future career forever.
