University of Plymouth
BA (Hons) Architecture
From studying architecture at Plymouth University, alongside my outside interests of landscape design and horticulture, my designs and sensibilities have focused on the effects of structures and form on its context and users. From historical context, surrounding vernacular and the environment and aesthetics, architecture should be responsive and aware, creating places that suit the location and cater to the needs and emotions of the user groups. Moving forward, alongside architecture I would like to improve my knowledge and skills in Landscape and Urban design, looking at interactions between the natural and man-made, people and the landscape.
My principle work experience has been as a Front of House team member in a restaurant, improving my time management skills both in work tasks and through the need to juggle work, university and commuting, as well as my social skills through interactions with customers and fellow members of staff. Within the architectural industry, a weeks work experience with LSN Architects (Newton Abbot) gave me an insight into the workings of a studio, allowing for site visits, exposure to real world briefs and client meetings.
