To mean:- Reclaiming/Recycling and exploring the full potential of a garments lifecycle.
In this concluding collection Sue has sought to highlight the potential of reclaimed denim through sourcing, manipulating and embellishing this well known and hardy material.
Sue is committed in her quest to re-imagine discarded clothing and save them from becoming landfill by making them into bespoke designs for clients who are environmentally conscious and want to own clothes that are designed individually.
Sue uses knit, crochet, stitch, folding, bleaching and cold water dyeing techniques to transform the flat surfaces into textural and highly embellished textile designs for fashion and fashion accessories.
Industry Experience
Sue learnt to knit, sew and crochet when she was nine years old and has been honing her skills ever since. Attending university has helped Sue strengthen her confidence in her designs.
Her experience includes working on live briefs which include Frugi - Designing and making an organic and sustainable sweat top with matching soft toy for their Autumn Winter 2021 collection. Finisterre - Designing a repeat pattern for Muslim Swimwear for this world renowned Cornish Swimwear Company. The British Ceramic Tile Company - Designing bespoke decorative edge tiles.
Sue is competent with tufting both by hand and gun, knitting machine - including punch cards, heat press, resin, and photocopier. All skills she has learnt at university.
