Biography
I am a recent English with Creative Writing graduate from the University of Plymouth and plan to begin a masters in Creative Writing in September. My area of expertise lies in the short story and poetry, where I often explore the current climate in relation to the historic and uncover how ideologies have changed throughout history.
I enjoy the fantasy genre and travelling when I am not writing, it fuels the imagination. Often, I spend my time walking around castle ruins and finding hidden gems in historical houses. They are often the best inspiration.
Industry Experience
I excel at researching topics independently, as can be shown in my dissertation project and I am also organised when working towards deadlines. I have worked as a writing mentor at the University of Plymouth where I would proof read students work from undergraduate to PhD level. This attention to detail has given me the skill to minimise the risk of errors in my own work, whilst helping other students focus on how they can develop their own writing.
With my English and Creative Writing degree, I have a lot of experience with social media. For one of my final assignments, I completed a professional writing module which taught me how to write for magazine and newspapers. Alongside this, I had to produce a website to show the feature articles I wrote. The website included making taglines and using search engine optimizers to make my article stand out in a Google search. A link to these articles can be found at https://michaelamoclair0.wixsite.com/mysite.
Furthermore, I used to submit monthly bi-weekly articles on upcoming television shows, which was read by a high volume of people and I have recently been involved in a micro-commission on the theme of 'recovery'.
